Kampanni Appearance Physiology
The Kampanni are a people built for motion. They stand between twelve and sixteen inches tall, light enough that a strong breeze can lift them, yet resilient enough to survive a life spent in the open sky. Their bodies are slender, with elongated limbs and flexible bones that bend rather than break. Despite their size, they are not fragile. Kampanni physiology favors sudden movement, rapid reaction, and bursts of strength rather than sustained exertion.
Wings¶
Their wings are their most defining feature. Each Kampanni's wings are unique, drawing from the shapes and textures of moths, butterflies, and dragonflies. Some are soft and powdery, others angular and translucent, and a rare few grow a second, smaller pair beneath the first. Wings are expressive organs, reacting instinctively to emotion. A Kampanni's mood can often be read in the angle, tremor, or flare of their wings long before they speak.
Physiology¶
Their eyes are large and reflective, adapted to low light and shifting skies. Combined with fast reflexes, this gives them an uncanny awareness of movement, making them difficult to surprise. Their voices are high and clear, carrying farther than expected, shaped by a culture that depends on song, warning calls, and storytelling shouted across open air.
Clothing and Style¶
Kampanni clothing mirrors their bodies and wings. It is layered, colorful, and deliberately extravagant, designed to move, flutter, and catch light. Nothing they wear is static. Even practical garments are stitched with ribbons, beads, or conductive thread. Care of wings and attire is a point of pride, not vanity. To appear dull or unadorned is to suggest stagnation, something the Kampanni quietly fear.
