🔮 Ka

Ka represents the magical energy a character can hold and shape. Casting spells consumes Ka.
Some items, places, and rituals may store or channel Ka externally. Ka is finite, valuable, and sensitive to environment.

🔋 Ka Capacity

Ka is purchased per point and scales in cost.

  • Maximum Ka: 24
Ka Points Cost Each
1–4 1
5–8 2
9–12 3
13–16 4
17–20 5
21–24 6

Low Ka pools refill faster and are easier to manage.
High Ka pools offer endurance at increased cost.

♻️ Ka Recovery

Ka naturally replenishes over time, depending on location. - Normal areas: ~1 Ka per hour - Ka-dry areas: recovery may be slower or stalled - Ley lines: ~1 Ka per 20 minutes - Ley nodes: ~1 Ka per 5 minutes The GM determines environmental conditions.

🌍 Environmental Sensitivity

Ka is not evenly distributed.

Some places: - resist magical flow - remember past workings - demand Ka to function properly

Magic used in such areas may: - cost more Ka - recover more slowly - or produce unusual side effects

🫴 Offering Ka

A character may deliberately offer Ka to: - stabilize magic - repair damaged enchantments - appease semi-sentient systems - empower rituals or locations

Offered Ka is lost and does not recover normally.

Offering Ka may: - create obligations - establish recognition - or alter future interactions

Ka offered without coercion is more effective than Ka forced.

🧘 Centering & Drawing Ka (Optional)

In areas rich with Ka, a character may attempt to center themselves to draw in energy more efficiently.

This may require: - time - stillness - or a Sorcery or Channeling check

Failure may result in: - no gain - fatigue - or minor backlash

This option is intentionally loose and should be resolved narratively.

🔥 Overcasting & Burn

(Defined elsewhere — see Sorcery Channeling & Ka)

When Channeling capacity is exceeded, remaining magic is fueled by the caster's will and psyche rather than Ka. Burn represents the cost of choosing to endure. Trauma represents the cost of being unable to choose.

Burn is resisted with Will, not Vigor.
