Vitalis — Barrier¶
Barrier is the Vitalis Method concerned with reducing Impact from defined sources. Barrier does not block actions or retaliate.

Impact Reduction¶

- –4 Impact is exceptionally rare.
- Exceeding –4 requires Enchanting or Rituals.
Channeling Difficulty (Barrier)¶
Modifiers: - Narrow, specific threat: +0 - Broad category (fire, physical): +2 - Multiple threat types: +4 - Moving boundary or mobile target: +2 - Structural target: +2
Duration and Maintenance¶
- Personal Barriers: one scene, no maintenance
- Area or structural Barriers: Ka paid per hour
- Wards exceeding 24 hours require Enchanting
Armour Boost (Barrier)¶
Barrier applied to armour grants: - +2 additional uses of the armour's Impact reduction - Uses are consumed first - Duration: one combat unless extended
Burn¶
Burn may be taken to: - increase Impact reduction by –1 for a single instance - prevent a ward from degrading when overloaded
Limitations¶
- Barrier does not function against Lightning or Storm damage.
- Barrier cannot deal damage or impose conditions.
